Blood vessels

*IN THIS LESSON WE WILL DISCUSS ABOUT BLOOD VESSELS..!!

VESSELS OF CIRCULLATORY SYSTEM ON THE BASIS OF STRUCTURAL DIFFERENC ARE FOLLOWINGS TYPES;

1)Aorta
2)Arteries
3)Arterioles
4)Capillaries
5)Venules
6)Venae cavae

Now first we discuss about;
1)ARTERIAL SYSTEM.;

· It consists of aorta, arteries, and arterioles.

AORTA and Arteries  are formed by three layers.
1)OUTER-----Tunica Adventitia
2)Middle----Tunica Media
3)INNER-----Tunica Intima

  • As blood vessels move away from heart their walls becomes narrower and their walls become thinner.
  • Maximum diameter of AORTA is 25 millimeter and minimum diameter of arterioles is 10 micrometer after that CAPILLARIES are started.

Now we discuss about;

2)CAPILLARIES ;
Capillaries are;
·     Small
·       Thin walled vessels.
·        They have diameter about 5 to 8 micrometer.
·        They are functionally very important because all the exchange of material              between the blood and the tissues occurs through capillaries.

3)VENOUS SYSTEM;

When capillaries end then venous system starts.

·        VENOUS SYSTEM include;
1)venules
2)veins
3)venae cavae

  • After capillaries the diameter of the blood vessel start to increase and capillaries end in VENULES and the diameter of venules are about 20 micrometer.
  • Venules are continued as Veins which have diameter of about millimeter.
  • veins ends in superior and inferior venae cavae which have diameter of about 30 millimeter.
  •  Wall of vein and venules are made of three layers of structures as in arteries and arterioles.
